Pescadero Festivals

"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds!"  -Bob Marley

Pescadero's festival history dates to the '60's when under the guise of a bike race, as documented in Tom Wolfe's book, "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test",  the Grateful Dead and Quicksilver played an acid test in town at the IDES Hall. Pescadero Art & Fun Festival The Big Daddy of them all is the Pescadero Art & Fun Festival, held annually the third weekend of August.  Now in it's 27th year it has raised over $2,500,000 for the local students in Pescadero area schools.

On Sunday the fashion show is anannual favorite.
Chamarita Festival A long time tradition in Pescadero, the Chamarita Festival is a festival celebrated by the Portegese community commerorating Queen Isabela 13th century tradition of crowning a common personon the feast of the Pentecost. There is a parade on Sunday followed by free food and an auction at the IDES Hall.

A real treat after the parade is when one of the marching bands, The Stewart Tartan Scottish Band from San Francisco, drops into Duarte's Tavern for a few songs on the pipes and drums, usually finsihed by a tear-jerking performance of Amazing Grace. It is a must see experience.
