Although not as popular (or crowded) as Napa or Sonoma, the Santa Cruz Mountains offers an ideal environment for growing grapes. In fact, the area has been recognized as a premium wine-producing region since the late 1800’s. There are now over 50 small, family owned wineries in the area. Just 30 minutes from Pescadero you will find three wineries; Thomas Fogarty, Bonny Doon and Obester. Or, make a day of it and see Hallcrest, Byington, Domenico and David Bruce as well. Byington, set high in the mountains offers panoramic mountain views while at Fogarty the San Francisco Bay is visible. We have free maps of all the area’s wineries for our guests.
