Be sure to stop and enjoy the many scenic beaches you pass along the way. >> Map ( pdf file ) Historic Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a wonderful place to stop either for a tour to the top of the lighthouse or just a stroll to the deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The tours and museum are open on weekends only. Just a short way south of Ano Nuevo is Coastways Ranch operating in Pescadero since 1917. They have three U-PICK crops; Olallieberries in June, pumpkin and winter squash in October, and the kiwifruit and Christmas trees in November through January Going north of Pescadero on Highway One, visit the wonderfully eclectic San Gregorio Store . With its wonderful assortment of country style kitchenware, overalls, books, and hats to a great Bloody Mary, there is something of interest for everyone. You may even decide to sit near the old potbellied stove and listen to live acoustic music on weekends, reading a book of your desire. The ambitious may wish to bicycle Stage Road to San Gregorio. The windy old stagecoach route through the hills offers breathtaking views and beautiful vistas. East of San Gregorio about five miles is Applejacks Historic bar where you can dance to live music on weekend nights Just outside downtown Pescadero, Phipps Ranch offers a wide display of farm animals, old farm equipment, and perhaps the largest selection of heirloom beans you will ever see. U-pick organic strawberries and olallieberries are available in season. |
