The nearest beach to the Inn is Pescadero State Beach. Located directly at the end of Pescadero Creek Road there are three parking lots to choose from. Two miles of sandy beach ends in a rocky outcropping that offers a variety of tide pools. During the week you will often have the beach to yourself.
Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve
Entry points to the Pescadero Marsh are located at both ends of the beach.
Pomponio State Beach

This area provides access to miles of gently sloping, sandy beaches at the base of high sandstone bluffs. This day-use facility features a small lagoon, roaring surf - and a wide parking area, picnic tables, and barbecues.

Going north of Pescadero on Highway One, visit the wonderfully eclectic San Gregorio Store . With its wonderful assortment of country style kitchenware, overalls, books, and hats to a great Bloody Mary, there is something of interest for everyone. You may even decide to sit near the old potbellied stove and listen to live acoustic music on weekends, reading a book of your desire. The ambitious may wish to bicycle Stage Road to San Gregorio. The windy old stagecoach route through the hills offers breathtaking views and beautiful vistas.

Historic Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a wonderful place to stop either for a tour to the top of the lighthouse or just a stroll to the deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The tours and museum are open on weekends only.

The park is about 65 miles south of San Francisco. From Santa Cruz travel approx 25 miles northwest via Highways 9 and 236 to reach Park Headquarters. Park Headquarters is 9 miles north of the town of Boulder Creek on State Hwy 236. All roads into Big Basin are curvy. The Rancho Del Oso coastal unit of Big Basin is accessible on State Route 1, about 20 miles north of the city of Santa Cruz.
