Pescadero Area Biking

“May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields” – Irish Proverb

The hills and farm roads around Pescadero host numerous bike races year round. Here is the peloton of the 2010 Tor of California passing through Pescadero. The deserted country roads around Pescadero offer great opprotunities for a leisurely bicycle ride. Just out the inns driveway is Stage Road, which meanders for about eught miles through farms until you reach San Gregorio General Store.

There you may browse the unique old time store and have a drink at the bar.
On weekends the have live bluegrass music aroung the old pot-bellied stove. About four miles into the ride along Stage Road to San Gregorio you may take a detour down Pomponio Valley and view many of the old barns and Farmhouses along this three mile dead end with little or no traffic.

Another popular route is along Pescadero Creek Road up into the Santa Cruz Mountains to LaHonda and then down San Gregorio Road to Stage Road and back to Pescadero.  Approximately a 25 mile loop, it is often used in the many bike races staged in the Pescadero area.
